1. Victoria Memorial:
In 1901,The Viceroy and Governor-General of India,Lord Curzon,first thought about this memorial,in the memory of late Empress Victoria.It was built between 1906 and 1921 and was formally inaugurated by the Prince of Wales in 1921.This white marble structure is architecturally an exquisite blending of the Oriental and Occidental.This is still one of India's most beautiful monumental legacies of the Raj. Howrah Bridge is a bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly River. The bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge, because it replaced a pontoon bridge at the same location linking the two cities of Howrah and Kolkata. On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.The Howrah Bridge is a sort of 'Cantilever bridge'. Eden Gardens is a cricket ground in Kolkata, India established in 1864 is the largest cricket stadium in India and the second-largest cricket stadium in the world. The zoo established by Governor General of India, Richard Wellesley, established around 1800 at Barrackpore near Kolkata,as part of the Indian Natural History Project. it draws huge crowds during the winter season, especially during December and January. Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu temple located in Dakshineswar build by Rani Rashmoni in the 19th century.
It is a place of pilgrimage where Sri Ramakrishna Parmahansa Deva worshipped Goddess Kali and attained salvation. The Ganga flows beside the temple. Twelve Shiva temples, six on either side of the eastern entrance of the main temple stand enmasse.There is a temple to Radha-Krishna,a bathing ghat on the river, a shrine dedicated to Rani Rashmoni.'Nahavat-Khana', the chamber in the northwestern corner just beyond the last of the Shiva temples. This Catholic Church is situated on the south east of Maidan beside Rabindra Sadan.It is said to be the largest cathedral in Kolkata and the first Episcopal Church in Asia. It was also the first cathedral built in the overseas territory of the British Empire.Following the 1897 earthquake and the subsequent massive earthquake of 1934,when Calcutta suffered substantial damage, the cathedral was reconstructed to a revised design.The interim of the church is a feast for the eyes. The Shaheed Minar formerly known as the Ochterlony Monument is a monument in Kolkata that was erected in 1828 to commemorate the victory of British army under David Octarloni over the Nepal army in 1814.
It is a 48.16 meter monument in the syle of Qutab Minar of Delhi. It was designed by J. P. Parker and paid for from public funds.On 9 August 1969 it was rededicated to the memory of the martyrs of the Indian freedom movement and renamed the "Shaheed Minar."

A botanic garden is a garden dedicated to the collection, cultivation and display of a wide range of plants labelled with their botanical names.Situated at Shibpur area of Howrah District, it was laid out in 1787. This is the oldest of all the Botanical Gardens in India. Its cover area is 270 acres. Inside is an incredible variety of about 50,000 trees. The pivotal attraction here is the giant banyan tree which covers about 404 meters of land. It has 600 aerial roots, 157 offshoots hanging down from the original tree. There are innumerable orchids and colorful flowers.There is a precious library in the garden which comprises a rare collection of books on Botany.

Rabindra Sarobar is an artificial lake in south Kolkata.It is previously known as Dhakuria Lake.The name also refers to the area surrounding the lake. In May 1958, CIT renamed the lake as Rabindra Sarovar, as a tribute to the great Bengali writer and Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore.
A number of people come for a walk around the lake in the mornings to enjoy the fresh air. Many visit the sunrise point to offer their prayers to the sun. During the day, it is visited by families on a picnic, tourists, young lovers and joggers.

Rabindra Bharati Museum, was established at "Jorasanko Thakurbari" by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,Prime Minister of India on 8th May. The Jorasanko Thakurbari building is two hundred and seventeen year old. The museum in Kolkata is a storehouse of memoirs of Rabindranath Tagore. It comprises the photographs, ooriginal paintings, and other valuable documents of the great poet.

The Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, which is popularly known as the Japanese Buddhist Temple, is one of the most beautiful and well maintained Buddhist Temples of Kolkata. An almamater of many artistes and sulptors of national and international fame.The temple was founded by Nichidatsu Fujii. Nichidatsu Fujii was a disciple of the great Japanese Buddhist monk Nichiren, who held the opinion of Lotus Sutra.Nicherien had a dream that the Lotus Sutra would be preached in India.In order to fulfill his guru’s dream Nicherien arrived in Kolkata, India in 1931 and set up the Japanese Buddhist Temple in 1935.The land is donated by industrialist Jugal Kishore Birla,the son of Baldeodas Birla.

Birla Mandir is a temple with high quality Rajasthani engravings with an all marble structure on Asutosh Chowdhury Avenue, Ballygunge, built by the industrialist Birla family. On Janmashtami, the birthday of Krishna, devotees come from far away places to pay their respect to the deities.
St. John's Church actualy a cathedral, was among the first public buildings erected by the East India Company after Kolkata became the effective capital of British India. It was constructed in 1784, Job Charnock's tomb is located in the churchyard.The land for the St. John's Church was donated by the Maharaja Nabo Kishen Bahadur, the founder of the Shovabazar Raj Family. The foundation stone was laid by Warren Hastings, the Governor General of India on 6 April 1784.The floor of the church was made with stones obtained from Ganda. It is popularly known as 'The Stone Church'.Stones were also obtained from Chunar.he stone tower is 174 ft. high. There is a dome with a pitcher appended to it. There are also the tombs of the daughters of Charnock.Another remarkable attraction of this church is 'The Last Supper', a marvellous painting by Zofanni.

The Gurusaday Museum-about 15km from Kolkata on the Diamond Harbour Road, a unique National Treasure of the Folk and Tribal Arts and Crafts of undivided Bengal as well as India. The museum was founded by Bengal Bratachari Society with 2325 exquisite specimens personally collected between 1929 and 1939 by Shri Gurusaday Dutt, I. C. S.(1882-1941). Chief Minister of West Bengal at that time Dr. Bidhan Chandra Ray opened the Museum building.

Located at 1 Park Street, Kolkata 700016, this institution is a famous centre of Indology, Literature and Scientific Research. The Asiatic Society was founded by civil servant Sir William Jones on 15 January 1784 with Warren Hastings as its first patron. Its library contains about 20000 volumes including about 8000 rare Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian and Hindi manuscripts.

Eco Park is an urban park in Rajarhat, Kolkata.It is the biggest park so far in India.The park is situated on a 480 acres plot and is surrounded by a 104 acres waterbody with an island in the middle.The park was conceptualised by Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee in July 2011. The stadium hosted the final match of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, alongside hosting other matches of the tournament. The Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, which is popularly known as the Japanese Buddhist Temple, is one of the most beautiful and well maintained Buddhist Temples of Kolkata. An almamater of many artistes and sulptors of national and international fame.The temple was founded by Nichidatsu Fujii. Nichidatsu Fujii was a disciple of the great Japanese Buddhist monk Nichiren, who held the opinion of Lotus Sutra.Nicherien had a dream that the Lotus Sutra would be preached in India.In order to fulfill his guru’s dream Nicherien arrived in Kolkata, India in 1931 and set up the Japanese Buddhist Temple in 1935.The land is donated by industrialist Jugal Kishore Birla,the son of Baldeodas Birla.
26. Tipu Sultan's Mosque:
Tipu Sultan's Mosque (Dharamtala Mosque) was constructed by Mohammed, the son of Tipu Sultan in 1842 located at 185 Dhartamtalla Street.Unlike usual Islamic culture, people from all sections of society and religions are obliged to visit and take pictures of this historical premises.The Mosque is double-aisled, with multiple domes and tall corner towers.The rounded arches and meticulous details drawn from classical architecture lends it a subtle European air.

Located in Strand Road, it is an imperial library with one hall.The architecture is reflective of the British imperial architecture at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Its thirty column rising 3feet and resembling the ' Tower of Winds ' in Athens, homours Sir Charles Metcalfe's efforts towards a free press. It was built between 1840-1844 according to the design prepared by the city magistrate, C.K. Robinson and named after Sir Charles T. Metcalfe, the Governor-General of India, in honour of his efforts towards a free press.

The National Library on the Belvedere Estate in Alipore, Kolkata,is the largest library in India by volume and India's library and The 2nd largest library in Asia. Its collection is in excess of 1million books and 5,00,000 manuscripts, with a number of over 18,000 reader-members.of public record. The Special Collections in the National Library of India house at least fifteen languages including "Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati and Tamil with many rare works.

The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture at Gol Park, Calcutta, is a branch of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math (Worldwide headquarters of all RKM centres and sub-centres). Millennium Park is a private park in Kolkata,located at Strand Road near BBD Bagh on eastern shore of Hooghly River for a stretch of 2.5 km near Fairlie Ghat and opposite to Railway Club. Millennium Park was set up on 26 December 1999. One of the highlights of the park is its proximity to the river. Greenery abounds in the park in the form of trees, small plants and properly manicured lawns. You can get an undisturbed view of the complete Howrah Bridge from this park. It is a millennium gift from Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. Its an amusement park for people of all ages. The park consists of landscaped gardens and children's amusement rides. The park is open from 11am-8pm.

Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata.It is famous for marble walls & floors,Curios, Marble statues, paintings of Ruben,antiques, floor to ceiling mirrors and collection of rare birds.It is situated at 46, Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata 700007.The house was built by Raja Rajendra Mullick, a wealthy Bengali merchant with a passion for collecting works of art in 1835. The house continues to be a residence for his descendants, and the current occupants are the family of Raja Rajendra Mullick Bahadur. Raja Rajendra Mullick was the adopted son of Nilmoni Mullick, who built a Jagannath temple which predates Marble Palace,
and still stands within the premises, but is only accessible to members of the family.

Fort William is a fort in Kolkata, built during the early years of the Bengal Presidency of British India. It sits on the eastern banks of the River Ganga.Named after King William III of England, it is the headquarter of Eastern Army Command.It stretches from the Western flank of the Red Road. Inside the Fort is the St. Peter's Church which was constructed in 1928. Swimming pool,Boxing stadium, Firing Range and other necessary arrangements are present within the Fort. There is also a provision for ten thousand interns of the Fort.The Fort has huge archways, one of which is known as 'Plassey Gate'. It is said that this is the only Fort in the world from where not a single bullet or cannon-ball has ever been shot.

The Maidan, also referred to as the Brigade Parade Ground,is the largest urban park in Kolkata. The Maidan is the most conspicuous vestige of British Calcutta. It is a vast stretch of field that includes numerous play grounds, including the famous cricketing venue Eden Gardens, several football stadiums, and the Kolkata Race Course.Ironically, what now serves as a heaven of tranquility and respite for Calcuttans, was originally intended as a ground to test - fire the guns of the Fort William.It is now a place for Migrants, travelling performers and trades people who exhibit their skills. Netaji Bhavan (Netaji's Residence) is a building maintained as a memorial and research center to the life of the Indian nationalist "Netaji" Subhas Chandra Bose in Kolkata.The house, built by Bose's father in 1909 is owned and managed by the Netaji Research Bureau,established in 1961.
This bureau holds the Netaji Subhas Ch. Bose archieval material including Freedom Library and his personal effects. and includes a museum, archives and library. The Bureau is run by Sugata Bose and his mother.

The Academy of Fine Arts, in Kolkata is one of the oldest fine arts societies in India.It is established in 1933 by Lady Ranu Mukherjee. The University of Calcutta is a public state university located in Kolkata established on 24 January 1857. It is a square area built around the old Lal Dighi tank which exists till date.It was later called the Tank Square and then the Dalhousie Square. It is still the 'heart' of Kolkata. Many famous buildings housing important offices,business centres and banks are located here.

his name has been purged from all official documents as the founder of Kolkata.

Bangiya Sahitya Parishad, situated near Maniktala, is an unique library that preserves ancient manuscripts of Bengali writings.The organisation was founded by L. Leotard and Kshetrapal Chakraborty in 1893.Then it was known as 'The Bengal Academy of Literature'. On 29 April 1894 the name of the society itself was changed to 'Vangiya Sahitya Parishad'.

No entry fee for entrance, plastic bags, food items are not allowed. The park is maintained by municipal corporation, and dedicated to the people of Kolkata under Kolkata police opened on 2004.It is well decorated with different flowers can see fishes, along the pond there are several benches to sit and big open lawn invites the visitor to relax there are some big trees and small pagoda for shelter. But these days it becomes love lovers family park than it, it is short time for open 1 PM to 4 PM only every day.
